Name: Aleksandra Tasha Andreescu
Face used: Cameron Russell
Age: Twenty-one.
Occupation: Freeloader.
Personality: Alek is the prime example of a would-be teenager struggling to fit into its new adult skin. Constant pampering and spoilage brought on by her parents throughout her whole childhood have left Alek seemingly unable to cope in the real world, much less the infected world. She is lazy and gluttonous, always looking for the easy way rather than the right way. With no skills beyond those required of a young girl in this day and age (AKA texting ninety words a minute and neverending flirtation), the only thing that has kept Alek alive thus far is a mysterious and surprisingly deep vein of luck that has lasted her for her whole life. Her freeloading, careless, and at times ditzy attitude has never landed her in the very deep trouble she probably deserves due to this strange and highly unlikely luck.
Though awfully self-centered, Alek is not a mean spirit. She is friendly enough and generally social, maybe even slightly on the timid side, though she tries to shield that. Alek tends to be very prissy and often obnoxious, traits that have never even been brought to her attention because she surrounds herself with friends who act just as she does. Unaware of just how embarrassing she truly is to be around, Alek treats everyone as her long-lost best friend. She steers away from drama and any sort of conflict whatsoever when she can help it, because she is easily intimidated and can be reduced to tears in a matter of seconds.
Beyond her outrageous luck, the one thing that has kept Alek alive through the infection ordeal is her strong desire for life. She was sick for most of her childhood, bedridden, explaining the pampering and laziness. She nearly met Death several horrifying times in her life, but her luck always pulled her through. Though this has left her weak, and usually she can't be bothered to give a rat's ass about anything anyway, Alek refuses to succumb to something she held off so easily as a child - infection and death.
Background: Due to a botched up birthing procedure by a less-than-reputable 'doctor', Alek came into life very weak and seemingly with very little chance of ever getting very far. Her first few months were spent permanently in the hospital with too many conditions and illnesses to describe thoroughly. The doctors finally deemed her well enough to leave the sterile environment of the hospital at five months of life. She struggled fiercely with her conditions all through infanthood and wasn't allowed to be around other children until her toddler years.
The increased isolation of her early years did not seem to have an effect on Alek, however. She got on swimmingly not only with children her age but everyone else, as well. She was chatty and friendly, though very selfish. Feeling very pitiful for their weak daughter, Alek's parents gave her what she wanted at all times and did virtually everything for her.
The same trend continued as Alek grew up. She hit her teenage years with full force, growing naturally obsessed with boys and makeup. She grew increasingly bratty and prissy, though still generally likeable. Her parents still continued to pamper her relentlessly. While her peers did their chores at home, Alek got to watch TV as the maid cleaned their country home behind her. And when other kids went to summer camp, Alek went to five-star combination hotels and spas with her mom. Being an only child only helped this attitude of hers along. She felt entitled to whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted it.
Alek experimented with college but found the whole living on your own thing too much to handle. She returned home and became a permanent resident of her parent's country home, resting several miles away from the edge of the city. She bided her time there, realizing her parents were growing strained against her freeloading, but thinking nothing of it - they loved her enough to let her stay as long as she wanted, right?
One day, however, Alek grew increasingly worried as neither of them came home from their jobs in the city. The infection would take a few days to reach her place in the country, and by the time Alek realized what was happening, her parents were long gone. Through sheer luck, Alek survived the waves of infected that continually overswept her home in search of blood by barricading herself in the wine cellar and praying to a God she had never spoken to before.
A month after the initial attack and infected people were a rare sight in the countryside. Alek knew they were still highly concentrated in the over-populous city, but she also knew she was going to have to wade right into the masses if she wanted to survive - she had no food left at home. Grabbing what her meddled teenage mind deemed neccessary for the journey, Alek began her trek for the city.
