Personality: John is quiet and unassuming. He usually keeps to himself, preferring to read out by a tree rather than joking around or talking about just anything. People tend to take him as a very serious person, but once they get to know him they find that he is happy and kind-natured and easy to get along with.
Background: John had a relatively normal upbringing. His parents were hard-working people. His mother was a nurse at the local hospital and his father worked at a sawing mill. They both raised John and his younger brother and sister as best they could, trying to make do in hard times. The three siblings were very close and got along surprisingly well. They helped around the house whenever they could and even took on a few jobs around the neighbourhood, just to make things easier on their parents.
During high school John played in a few teams and got some good grades. Despite his quiet personality he was friends with most of his year and he made some close friends. There were some hard times, like for all kids, but he enjoyed it for the most part and after school he decided to go to college to become an architect. He knew it wasn't going to be easy, so he joined the national guard to help pay his way through college. He felt at home in the guard, he made friends and worked hard. He took a tour in Iraq and returned safely.
Then when John was close to graduation the outbreak started. Like everyone else, he'd hoped it was just isolated. But as the sickness spread, and finally reached home, his division was mobilised and tasked with aiding in the evacuation of residents from the region. He was devastated when he had to leave his family and friends, but there were alot of other people out there who needed help.
